Message from LaTroy Brinkley, President Virginia State University Alumni Association Tidewater Chapter Trojan Family, On behalf of the Virginia State University Alumni Association Tidewater Chapter, I am excited to extend a heartfelt welcome to all alumni, students, families, and friends of our beloved alma mater! Whether you walked the yard decades ago, just recently crossed the stage, or are a proud parent or supporter of a future or current Trojan, there is a place for you here with us. The Tidewater Chapter proudly represents VSU throughout the Hampton Roads area, and we are committed to carrying forward the legacy of academic excellence, distinction, and Trojan Pride that defines our great university. Our mission is simple, yet powerful: to keep our Trojan alumni engaged, to support the next generation of students, and to advance the mission of Virginia State University. Through our chapter, you will find opportunities to: Unite with fellow Trojans and strengthen lifelong bonds. Support current and future students through scholarships and mentorship. Laurie Carpenter
Laurie Carpenter, a proud member and former president of the Tidewater Alumni Chapter, currently serves as the National President of the VSU Alumni Association. This past spring, Laurie celebrated a special milestone as her son, Myles, followed in her footsteps and graduated from Virginia State University. Laurie’s dedication, leadership, and unwavering support embody true Trojan spirit. Her pioneering spirit reminds us that, as alumni, we hold the power to strengthen the VSU pipeline and inspire generations to come.
